Hoka Publishing’s profile on the rise in Wales
It’s been three months since I began working with Kathryn Llewellyn of HOKA Publishing, and I’m proud to share what we’ve achieved together so far.
Kathryn, alongside her daughter Hope, launched her debut children’s self-help book, The Little Girl Who Was Full of Light — a powerful story inspired by their lived experience with children’s mental health. Since then, we’ve built a strong foundation of awareness, engagement, and community connection through a carefully planned PR and outreach campaign.
Media Coverage
We’ve secured local and regional press coverage, including:
These stories have helped raise awareness of the book’s message — promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience, and open conversations around mental health in children.
Bookshop & Community Partnerships
The book has been welcomed by many independent bookshops and venues in South Wales, including:
Griffin Books (Penarth)
Bookspace (Cardiff)
Storyville Books (Pontypridd)
Cover to Cover (Swansea)
Cowbridge Bookstore (Cowbridge)
Forage (Cowbridge)
A public reading event is also planned at Platfform for young people in the near future, with more community links in development.
Social Media Growth
We’ve built a strong, engaged presence online:
10,000+ views and over 450 interactions across Facebook and Instagram
Increased Instagram followers and engagement
Influencer collaborations with (Welsh Mummy Steph, to help amplify the message to new audiences
Secured a very positive review by national mental health charity ‘Platfform’ about the book
Strategic Partnerships
We created a corporate sponsorship pack and began conversations with funders.
We’re excited to have been endorsed by Platfform for Young People, a national mental health charity supporting our outreach into schools and youth mental health and wellbeing settings.
A Campaign with Purpose
This campaign is about more than selling books — it’s about creating space for families to talk about big feelings with clarity and compassion. Kathryn and Hope’s work is already making an impact in homes, schools, and community spaces across South Wales.
It’s been a joy to support a project so aligned with my own values — using storytelling to drive change and support wellbeing. Kathryn has also been incredibly with the success so far and is looking forward to publicising her next book in the series, ‘The Little Girl Who Was Scared of Scared’.
