my Journey from Soap Actor to PR consultant

I’m Dan Broderick — and before I was a PR consultant, I was an actor best known for playing Dan Gruffudd on *Pobol y Cwm*, the Welsh-language soap I was proud to be part of for five years.
Acting gave me a real love of storytelling. But when I stepped away from the screen, I knew I wanted to use that same creativity in a more meaningful, purpose-driven way.
That’s what led me to public relations.
Over the last few years, I’ve worked with charities, non-profits, and social enterprises across Wales — helping them connect with the media, grow their profiles, and tell stories that matter.

Since launching Broderick PR, I’ve had the chance to lead communications for a range of brilliant causes:

For HOKA Publishing, I’ve helped launch a debut children’s self-help book on mental health, co-authored by a mother and daughter. My press campaign secured coverage in Herald Wales, Barry & District News, Penarth Times, and Bro Radio, as well as support from independent bookshops and venues across South Wales.
With Learning Disability Wales, I delivered media and digital comms for the Engage to Change project, highlighting employment support for young people with learning disabilities. We earned features on BBC Wales News, alongside an engaging bilingual content series that reached thousands online.
At Home-Start Cymru, I now lead and consult on national PR activity across Wales, creating content, press releases, and digital campaigns to support families across the country.

Before moving into PR consulting, I also had the privilege of working in-house in PR and communications roles with MS Society Cymru and Merthyr Tydfil Council, gaining experience in everything from multiple sclerosis trials to education campaigns and Welsh language engagement.
